how many photos should a guy have on tinder

How many photos should you have

The short answer

Use 6, and use every slot for a different job. Hinge asks for 4 to 6, Tinder allows up to 9, Bumble allows up to 6.

Tinder lets you post 9. Do not post 9. Photos 7, 8 and 9 are almost always weaker than the first 6.

A profile is judged on its average, not its best photo. Every weak photo you add pulls the average down.

What each of the 6 slots is for

  1. 01

    The face

    The cost

Without this in position 1, nothing else in the profile is read.

    The fix

Daylight, face filling a third of the frame, held by another person, no sunglasses, looking at the camera.

  2. 02

    The body

    The cost

Its absence is read as concealment, whatever your build is.

    The fix

Full length, head to shoes, from about 3 metres, standing normally in clothes that fit.

  3. 03

    The life

    The cost

Without it she has no idea what a Saturday with you looks like.

    The fix

You doing the thing you actually do: on the bike, at the wall, behind the decks, holding the dog.

  4. 04

    The people

    The cost

A profile with no other humans in it reads as isolated.

    The fix

2 or 3 friends, you clearly the subject, everyone looking like they want to be there.

  5. 05

    The place

    The cost

Nothing to comment on means nothing to open with.

    The fix

Somewhere specific and recognisable, you in it, not a landscape with no person.

  6. 06

    The second face

    The cost

One face photo can be luck. Two makes it credible.

    The fix

A different expression, different clothes, different light from photo 1. Smiling if photo 1 is not.

How few is too few

Under 4 photos performs badly on every app. It reads as an unfinished profile, and unfinished profiles get skipped.

The order is worth as much as the photos

Most men have 2 good photos and put them in slots 4 and 5. The same 6 photos in the correct order perform differently.

You are not choosing 6 photos you like. You are choosing 6 photos that each answer a different question, in the order the questions get asked.

Which of your 6 are actually working

This page tells you what the 6 slots are for. It cannot tell you which of your photos fills which slot, or which 2 to delete.

hitch scores each photo you are using, rules it Keep, Fix or Cut, and gives you the correct order.
